The Little Prince: To be Judged not by Words but by Deeds

Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s fairy tale is filled with wisdom, like a pitcher — with cool water. It’s wisdom that quenches thirst. Not preachy and the advice of a friend.

Most of all, I like the fairy tale Chapter tells about the relationship of The Little Prince with a beautiful flower — rose.

The little Prince as the real owner every day put in order your planet. He knew how to see and appreciate the beautiful, so always delighted admired the sunset, knew all the flowers of his small but cozy planet. One day the Little Prince saw an unknown sprout, from which eventually grew a beautiful rose — a flower, which the Little Prince had never seen and knew nothing about him.

With what touching tenderness and love The Little Prince looked after the beauty. He watered it, covered it from the wind and drafts with a glass cap, collected caterpillars. However, the rose revealed an unbearable character. She did not suffer from excess of modesty, was a proud and touchy, always capricious and choosy. Struggling tried the Little Prince to please a beautiful flower, but difficult to fulfill the desires of someone who doesn’t know what he wants. Therefore, despite the fact that the Little Prince sincerely loved rose and became attached to her, constantly admiring her beauty and fragrance, “in his heart awoke a doubt.”

The vagaries of roses every day became more and more unbearable. Then, in order not to offend the beautiful and not to save her irritation, The Little Prince decided to leave, “to travel with migratory birds”. And Rosa at the last moment before parting confessed that she loves him. “It’s my fault you didn’t know,” she said. Rose knew all the outrageousness of his behavior before this, but nothing I could do about it: no one ever taught her another way to Express your feelings. And the Little Prince after much regretted his departure: “it Was necessary to judge not by words, but by deeds.” He meant that rose had brought beauty into his life, watered the whole planet with the fragrance. Realizing this, the Little Prince could not simply rejoice at the flower and be grateful. Only in separation, after meeting with Fox, the Little Prince suddenly realized that rose was his true friend.

How often in life we take offense at friends for offensive or thoughtless words, waving at the advice of parents, angry at the reproach of teachers. At these moments, we do not think that these people want us to be kind, worried or even protected from our behavior. The wise Fox told the Little Prince: “The essential is invisible to the eye”. That is why you need to listen to your friends not with your ears, but with your heart, trying to understand the true meaning of what is said.
